FXTM was thrilled to present the Nelson Mandela Covid-19 Relief Virtual Challenge on Saturday, August 1, 2020 — and what a great day it was! This inspirational event, in partnership with Ride4Hope and the Nelson Mandela Foundation, saw 6 incredible teams across a variety of disciplines challenge each other on Wattbikes via the ZWIFT cycling app, to help raise urgently-needed funds for those affected by Covid-19 in South Africa .

It was a hot and sunny day, but this didn’t stop athletes from the likes of Rugby team Vodacom Bulls, the Titans cricket team, our very own FXTM Velokhaya Cyclists or even TV celebrity Maps Maponyane from taking on this 30km ride with all their might — with every single participant completing the challenge!

FXTM is delighted to present the Nelson Mandela Covid-19 Relief Virtual Challenge, in partnership with Ride4Hope and the Nelson Mandela Foundation. This exciting initiative is designed to raise urgently-needed funds for those in South Africa affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, and takes the form of a virtual cycle competition between professional teams on August 1, 2020.

A virtual race, fit for our times

The event adds a new dimension to the average cycling race, one fit for our current times – as the name suggests, it is entirely virtual! Six sports teams across a variety of fields including rugby, running, cycling and cricket will compete against one another in a 30km race in several designated locations across South Africa using online cycling platforms.

The Ride4Hope Foundation is a dedicated organisation that supports schools and charities around the region, and collaborates with the Nelson Mandela Foundation to present their yearly Cycle Tour. Ride4Hope explains the union between the two perfectly -
